Amalou - Berber butter

Amalou (a Maroque recipe) - Maroque

This indulgent almond, honey and argan oil butter is delicious spread on warmed Moroccan bread, and traditional eaten by Berbers for breakfast.
100gm sliced almonds
100gm Argan oil
1/4 tsp salt
50gm honey (Moroccan if you can get it or a local honey
1. Brown the almonds in the base of a pan, being careful not to burn them.

2. Add to a blender and add the oil, mix until you have a smooth paste.

3. Spoon the honey into the blender and continue blending for about 30 seconds.

4. 4. Pour the amalou into a stoneware pot and store in a cool place.

Serve with warm bread or crumpets.

    The only Argan oil I can find is organic and intended for cosmetic use, is this safe to use in this recipe?

      The argan oil for cooking is toasted so has a stronger taste. We sell it in two sizes
