maroque
Welcome to the Third Maroque Newsletter

I hope you had ample opportunity to make the most of the glorious summer, with lots of alfresco dining, and sipping cool drinks in the shade, on very hot Sunday afternoons.

As autumn rapidly approaches and the light turns to a golden hue, and with the sudden shock that, with cooler mornings and darkening evenings, our gardens are no longer available as an extension of our living space, we want to capture the warm glow of our summer holidays, and the essence of North Africa back in our homes.

Warm tones, rich reds and gold's become far more appealing, with the shortening of days. Twinkling lights and warm brassy hues bring an instant glow and warmth to your room.

An addition of a brass lantern or a red and gold silk throw can easily add that Moroccan warmth.  Have a look at the effect that the large brass open topped lantern with multi-coloured Moroccan glass creates on the ceiling, here.  An instant piece of Moroccan magic.

Food for thought

Over the last few months we have added a new food section, including a selection of some of my favourite recipes. Have a look and give them a try: the lamb tagine has a long ingredients' list, but it is straight forward, and the results will have you imaging you're sitting in a restaurant in Marrakech.

What's New

We have added a new section on the main shopping page called "What's New", as we are adding new stock to the site every few weeks, and have decided to list our new items on one page and keep them there for three months. When you visit the site you can easily see what we have added, here.

New additions include quite a few lanterns, we have introduced a "huge" lantern. It stands a metre tall and has a diameter of 60cm (it comes in a very big box).  This is a very dramatic item for a large room or suspended in a room with very high ceilings.  We also have a new tower lantern which has eight individual glass towers, the detail on the lantern is stunning, we have included several photos of the lantern showing close up details and the light effects created when this lantern is illuminated.
We have also added a wall lights section, which has a selection of iron and glass wall lights, and will adding henna wall lights over the coming months.

We are continuing to increase our furniture selection, and have introduced some larger coffee tables, small chairs, iron screens and wrought iron and wooden window frames. We will be adding carved wooden screens and brass tables over the next few weeks and increasing our selection of painted furniture.

We are One

Maroque has just turned one, and we are continually improving the site.  Over the year our stock has increased from its initial selection of 70 items to over 160 items, and is still growing.

If you have an item you would like to see, please email me and I will try and source it for you.

Looking Forward to Bhatik

The success of Maroque has inspired me to create a sister site called Bhatik, looking at the design inspirations and styles of India, including furniture, textiles and home accessories. We will be selling a range of items to help you create the look in your own home. It has been a very enjoyable project to research, with a breath-taking diversity of styles and influences. I am looking forward to launching it in the next 6 weeks, and will let you know when it is goes live.

Thank you for your continued support of Maroque, if you have any suggestions or questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Enjoy the last few days of golden sunshine.

Kind regards
