With the summer upon us, our minds often turn to sunnier climates and outdoor living, as is so eloquently captured in Morocco.

As most of us, unfortunately, cannot jet off to Marrakech at the drop of a hat, we can try and recreate a small corner of Morocco on our patios and courtyards, with the possible addition of an outside heater.

The Moroccan courtyard garden or riyad is central to their way of life. These treasures, hidden behind high, neglected, austere walls, often contain a fountain or basin in the centre, which can be highly decorated with zillij tiles creating a jewelled effect.

These gardens will often be planted with orange and lemon trees, pomegranates and figs, and various scented plants such as mint, geranium, basil and jasmine. The perfect setting to sip your mint tea and while away a few hours.

While I may not be able to whisk you away to your own riyad, I can help recreate a little Moroccan magic this summer.

An evocative Moroccan setting can be easily created using just a few items, a wrought iron lantern illuminated with a candle in the corner of the patio can create an interesting effect, or you may want to carry the Moroccan theme on to your table with some iron or brass table lanterns, tea glasses and brass coasters, or serve your mixed salad in a traditionally decorated large bowl.

I have pulled these items together in a page called Summer Living, please click here to have a look, I have also included a recipe for mint tea, perfect for a lazy afternoon

Since my last newsletter we have been busy. We supported the Goldfish garden, designed by Geoffrey Whiten, at the Chelsea flower show, providing lanterns, furniture, ceramics and cushions. The garden was designed around a courtyard setting evoking a southern Mediterranean feel. I have included a photo to show you and we have also pulled the goldfish items together to help you recreate this effect in your own garden. Please click here.

We were featured in the Sunday Express Magazine in April. On the site we have increased our furniture collection click here, and updated our collection of perfume bottles, click here.

Coming up, we are going to feature in September's BBC Homes magazine, in their "Bringing Your Holiday Home" feature.

I would very much value any feed back on the newsletter or the site, any ideas or thoughts you may have would be very appreciated, together with any items you would like to see.

Have a fabulous summer,

Kind regards
